Our Ambition

PET(-Polyethylenterephthalat)-Strapping in comparison to the PP(-Polypropylen)-Strapping distinguishes itself by clearly higher strength. Further the stretch is lower (higher elongation) and the stiffness is higher- even under hot, humid conditions-, the latter contributes to the fact that PET-strapping, also called Polyester-Strapping or Polyethylenterephthalat-Strapping can be processed more easily, because it can be pushed under a pallet quickly.

Excelplast

PET-strap comes on a 406 mm core. It is green and available in strapping ranges of 9 - 25 mm. Whereas 9 mm ranges are nearly exclusively used on automated strapping devices, manual and battery-powered strapping devices process ranges of 12-19 mm.

With a 19x1,27 mm PET-Strapping band, for example, a tensile strength of approx. 1,100 kg per cycle can be achieved.

Hence, PET-strap is especially interesting as an alternative to steel strapping. It has the clear advantage that it can be used much more efficiently than for example polyester-yarn-strapping. PET-Strapping does not need to be threaded into metal seals but can easily be tensioned and welded with the help of a battery-powered strapping device.Thanks to a so-called friction-lock, the two ends of the PET-strapping are rubbed and pressed against each other at the same time welding them together that way.

The common dimensions for the use with battery-powered strapping devices are 12,5x0,7 mm, 15,5x0,7 mm, 15,5x0,9 mm and19x1,27 mm PET-Strapping.

Other than band width and thickness we distinguish between smooth and embossed PET-Strapping:Embossed means that the strapping gets an embossment, along which the strength is measured. This is how the nominal band thickness is reached and yet material is saved which allows for a lower price but also results in a lesser tensile strength as compared to the smooth strapping.

If you are interested in printed PET Strapping we can produce that as well; the minimum purchase here is one pallet in order to compensate the high preproduction costs. This works such that you provide us with the artwork (f.ex. as a pdf file) and we supply you with the proof for your approval. We will then need about 3 weeks for applying the print to your PET strapping.

PP-Polypropylene-Strapping, also called PP-Strap, is the simplest type of strapping among plastic strapping bands and is mostly applied with automatic strapping machines. The reason for the many core sizes is this: Most automatic strapping machines offer a core holder for core dimensions of 200mm. As a measure to increase customer loyalty, Strapex introduced a core dimension of 280mm some years ago. Then other manufacturers adapted their product lines to be able to provide strap for Strapex-customers.

Moreover, PP strap is also available on a 406mm core, which are partly used for fully automatic pallet-strapping devices, but are especially used with manual strapping devices. In that process the large roll of PP strap is set onto the dispenser cart and the strap is normally applied with battery-powered strapping devices.

PP-Polypropylene-Strap is also available in dispenser boxes; there are 1000m in one dispenser which are used with plastic buckles which eliminates the need for a strapping device. PP strap is therefore not only an inexpensive but also mobile solution in the area of strapping.

With regard to PP-strap, we can distinguish between embossed and smooth design. Some strapping machines require smooth strap, like f.ex. SPIRIT-machines by Signode. Signode calls their strap “Dylastic Band” and use abbreviations like 714B, 716B, 718B. These strapping bands have a 406mm core. When an „SP“ is added to the item number, it involves SPIRIT strap and is produced on a 200mm core for strapping machines. You will find smooth PP strapping in our online-shop.

One special feature is our offer to make your PP strap unique by having your strap printed. Printed strapping band is mainly used for advertising purposes as you can also put an individual logo or slogan onto it. A further advantage is that the strapping assumes a sealing function. The minimum purchase of printed strapping is one pallet, as lower quantities would not be profitable due to the setup times. As soon as you send us a setting copy (pdf or jpg file) and we got your approval for our proof, it will take only 3 weeks until you receive your new printed advertising media.
